This module, “Gifting Forgiveness,” is designed for students to understand and embrace forgiveness as a vital aspect of personal growth and emotional well-being. It introduces forgiveness as a deliberate decision to let go of resentment and negative feelings, highlighting that forgiving does not mean forgetting or reconciling. Through discussions of historical figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Nelson Mandela, students explore the strength and peace that forgiveness can bring. The module includes reflective activities like creating “Forgiveness Cards,” encouraging students to practice self-forgiveness and understand its impact on their mental health and personal development. Students will see how active listening can affect them (and others!) in different places, and why it is important to the development of relationships. Our friends in Grades 6-8 will then become super sleuths and find out who the “Secret Listener” is our Secret Listening Activity! But whoever it may be—students will become active listeners to the very last word! Time Required: 30-45 minutes.

Through engaging discussions and activities, students critically analyze how social platforms shape perceptions and the portrayal of idealized lifestyles. Besides, students practice distinguishing authentic content from unrealistic portrayals, gaining valuable skills for mindful social media use. The module emphasizes emotional awareness and resilience, helping students manage the effects of social media on their self-worth. By the end, students will be empowered to navigate social platforms in a healthy, self-assured way, recognizing and resisting unrealistic societal standards. Time Required: 55 minutes.
