This module introduces students to the concept of courage and how people generally describe it. Students will learn about three different types of courage: moral courage, physical courage, and vital courage. Using the stories of Martin Luther King Jr., Stephen Hawking, and firefighters, students will deepen their understanding of courage. They will connect the concept of courage to their own experiences through class discussions and personal reflection. Students learn to reflect on what balance means to them by identifying areas that need more attention. The lesson concludes with a reflective writing exercise where students create personal strategies for achieving harmony in their own lives. Time Required: 30-35 minutes.

This module, “Gifting Forgiveness,” is designed for students to understand and embrace forgiveness as a vital aspect of personal growth and emotional well-being. It introduces forgiveness as a deliberate decision to let go of resentment and negative feelings, highlighting that forgiving does not mean forgetting or reconciling. Through discussions of historical figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Nelson Mandela, students explore the strength and peace that forgiveness can bring. The module includes reflective activities like creating “Forgiveness Cards,” encouraging students to practice self-forgiveness and understand its impact on their mental health and personal development. Time Required : 45 minutes.

Sound check, sound check! Get your students listening in with the “Hear Me Out!” module, where they will listen and learn about how constructive—or active—listening. Students will see how active listening can affect them (and others!) in different places, and why it is important to the development of relationships. Our friends in Grades 6-8 will then become super sleuths and find out who the “Secret Listener” is our Secret Listening Activity! But whoever it may be—students will become active listeners to the very last word! Time Required: 30-45 minutes.

This module, “High Expectations, Big Dreams!” introduces students to setting and maintaining high expectations from themselves and others. It emphasizes the importance of goal setting, perseverance, and a growth mindset, encouraging students to focus on their ambitions despite challenges. Through stories of inspirational figures like Michael Jordan, Simone Biles, Malala Yousafzai, and others, students explore how high expectations drive success. Engaging activities, like building marshmallow spaghetti towers, help students connect effort and belief with outcomes. The lesson promotes self-confidence, resilience, and the development of skills essential for future academic and personal success. Time Required: 45 minutes.

There’s a pathway for everyone with the confidence to embark on an Expansion of Hope! For our friends in Grades 6-8, we offer another chance to grow in “Hope: Blooming For the Future,” where students will intentionally increase their hope through goal setting and designing how those goals can be achieved. Module activities can be completed at the teacher’s discretion. See module “Horizons of Hope!” for the introductory content! Time Required: 30-45 minutes.
Objectives:
The spirit of exploration and believing in reaching your goals is found in Horizons of Hope! This module aims to introduce students to the concept of hope, and how to identify it in their own lives, while fostering an understanding of the importance of hope in their own lives, and in society as a whole. Students will learn to understand the role of agency in hope, and how they can identify pathways in their own lives to reach individual goals, as well as how to reach group goals. Module activities can be completed at the teacher’s discretion. Setup: Printable in lesson plan. Time Required: 40 minutes.

This session aims to empower students to discover what truly inspires them by exploring inspiring individuals and reflecting on personal interests and passions. We will delve into the concept of inspiration, learning how it can spark creativity, motivate learning, and fuel personal growth. Through engaging activities, such as researching role models and reflecting on their qualities, students will identify sources of inspiration and learn how to apply these qualities in their own lives. By the end of this workshop, students will have a foundation for setting meaningful goals and cultivating a positive, inspiring outlook that supports lifelong learning and self-belief. Time Reuiqred: 40 minutes.

This module explores how social media influences their self-esteem, self-concept, and self-efficacy. Through engaging discussions and activities, students critically analyze how social platforms shape perceptions and the portrayal of idealized lifestyles. Besides, students practice distinguishing authentic content from unrealistic portrayals, gaining valuable skills for mindful social media use. The module emphasizes emotional awareness and resilience, helping students manage the effects of social media on their self-worth. By the end, students will be empowered to navigate social platforms in a healthy, self-assured way, recognizing and resisting unrealistic societal standards. Time Required: 55 minutes.
